According to the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, on Monday, July 2, 2025, Ebrahim Madadi, a labor activist and member of the founding board of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, and a political prisoner detained in Greater Tehran Prison, was released after completing his prison sentence. The basis for Ebrahim Madadi's arrest and case was his peaceful professional and syndical activities, and during his imprisonment, he was deprived of the right to definitive treatment for his illnesses.
According to this report, Ebrahim Madadi's release took place after he served his 1-year prison sentence. During this period, despite suffering from multiple illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, prostate issues, and hearing problems due to ear stroke, he was deprived of access to appropriate and quality medical services.
This labor activist was arrested on August 12, 2024, after appearing at the First Branch of the Enforcement of Judgments at the Prosecutor's Office in District 33 of Tehran to serve his prison sentence and was transferred to Evin Prison. However, in recent days, due to an Israeli missile attack on Evin Prison, he, along with a group of political prisoners, was transferred to Greater Tehran Prison.
It is worth mentioning that Ebrahim Madadi was arrested on April 29, 2015, two days before International Workers' Day, after security forces raided his home in Tehran. After being transferred to Ward 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence located in Evin Prison and undergoing interrogation and charges, he was released after about 22 days on a bail of 100 million Tomans.
With the start of judicial proceedings, Ebrahim Madadi was sentenced in 2015 by a judge of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment on charges of "assembly and collusion" and "disrupting public order." This sentence was upheld by the judges of Branch 36 of the Tehran Province Court of Appeals in October 2018.
Following the filing of a request for retrial, the issued verdict was overturned by the judges of the Supreme Court, and Ebrahim Madadi's case was sent to the Tehran Revolutionary Court as a parallel branch, and ultimately this labor activist was sentenced to 1 year of imprisonment.
Since the beginning of his activities in the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company in 2005, Ebrahim Madadi has been repeatedly arrested and sentenced to imprisonment at various times.
