بر اساس گزارش اختصاصی رسیده به خبرنامه امیرکبیر، محمدرضا مرادعلی، دانشجوی باانگیزه و توانمند دانشکده الهیات دانشگاه تهران، در جریان انقلاب ملی ایرانیان توسط مزدوران جمهوری اسلامی به قتل رسید.
محمدرضا مرادعلی پیش از این در مقطع کارشناسی، دانشجوی رشته کامپیوتر در دانشگاه صنعتی شریف بود و سپس تحصیل خود را در رشته الهیات را ادامه داد.
استاد مشاور وی، احمد جلاد، از پژوهشگران شناخته شده حوزه مطالعات دینی، مسئولیت راهنمایی علمی او را بر عهده داشت. بر اساس روایت هم دوره ای ها، محمدرضا مرادعلی حضوری فعال و مستمر در دوره ها و برنامه های آموزشی داشت و به عنوان دانشجویی پیگیر و اثرگذار شناخته می شد.
