On 16 January 2025, Hiwa Bahin, a resident of Bukan County in West Azerbaijan Province, was sentenced by the Criminal Court 2 of the county to six months of imprisonment. According to the issued verdict, this sentence was given due to the charge of "propaganda activities against the regime."
Hiwa Bahin was arrested on 25 November 2024, after being summoned to the Intelligence Office of Bukan County. Following interrogation and the formalisation of charges, he was transferred to Bukan County Prison. On 2 December 2024, he was released from prison after posting bail of 600 million tomans.
