Morteza Yaghoubi, 43, was killed on January 8, 2026, during public protests in the city of Esfarayen by a military bullet fired by the security forces of the Islamic Republic. مرتضی یعقوبی ۴۳ ساله ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات مردمی شهر اسفراین با شلیک گلوله جنگی از سوی نیروهای نظامیامنیتی جمهوری اسلامی کشته شد. نهادهای حکومتی پس از اخذ تعهد کتبی مبنی بر عدم برگزاری مراسم ختم پیکر را به خانواده تحویل دادند و مراسم خاکسپاری در روستای «تقی آباد» شهرستان اسفراین استان خراسان شمالی برگزار گردید. او پدر سه فرزند و راننده ماشین سنگین بود.
