Reports indicate that Mamosta Salam Mahmoudian, the Friday prayer leader of the village of Biuran Salafi Olya in Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province, has been summoned to the Special Clerical Court in Urmia. It has been stated that this Sunni religious activist is required to attend a hearing to present his defence for the second time on 3 July 2024.
The legal case against Mamosta Salam Mahmoudian was initiated after he expressed support for the nationwide protests in 2022 and was summoned by security and law enforcement agencies in Sardasht County.
