In August 2017, Mr. Haji Mohammadi was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to 12 years in prison on various charges, including "assembly and collusion against national security through leading a criminal group known as the People's Army and financing the group for sabotage purposes." This sentence was reduced to 7 years and 9 months on appeal, with 3 years and 6 months being enforceable after considering reductions and consolidation of sentences.
Mohsen Haji Mohammadi, a political prisoner at Evin Prison, was arrested on 8 October 2018 and transferred to Evin Prison. He was released after a period of time.
Mohsen Haji Mohammadi was re-arrested on 18 September 2023 by security forces in Tehran. After being transferred to the Security Police detention centre and undergoing case formation procedures, he was moved to the security wards of Evin Prison for further interrogation. Following the interrogation, he was transferred to Ward 4 of the prison.
On 18 February 2024, Mohsen Haji Mohammadi was sentenced in the Court of Appeal to a total of 4 years in prison for charges of "assembly and collusion with the intent to disrupt national security" and "propaganda activities against the regime."
In an audio file released from Greater Tehran Prison around 20 April 2026, he spoke about the deprivation of basic necessities such as water, food, and medical services for prisoners.
آقای حاجی محمدی در مردادماه سال ۹۶ توسط دادگاه انقلاب از بابت عناوین مختلف اتهامی نظیر «اجتماع و تبانی علیه امنیت کشور از طریق سرکردگی گروه مجرمانه موسوم به ارتش مردمی و تامین مالی گروه جهت اهداف خرابکارانه» به ۱۲ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شده و این حکم در مرحله تجدید نظر به ۷ سال و ۹ ماه حبس کاهش پیدا کرد که با احتساب تخفیف و تجمیع احکام ۳ سال و شش ماه از این میزان قابل اجرا است.
محسن حاجی محمدی، زندان سیاسی زندان اوین در تاریخ ۱۶ مهرماه ۹۷ بازداشت و به زندان اوین منتقل شد. او مدتی بعد آزاد شد.
محسن حاج محمدی، دوباره در تاریخ ۲۷ شهریور ماه ۱۴۰۲، توسط نیروهای امنیتی در تهران، بازداشت و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه پلیس امنیت و طی مراحل تشکیل پرونده برای بازجویی های بیستر به بندهای امنیتی زندان اوین، منتقل و پس از طی مراحل بازجویی ها به اندرزگاه ۴ آن زندان منتقل شد.
۲۹ بهمن ماه ۱۴۰۲، محسن حاجی محمدی، در دادگاه تجدیدنظر از بابت اتهام (اجتماع و تبانی به قصد برهم زدن امنیت کشور) و (فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام) در مجموع به تحمل ۴ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شد.
در فایل صوتی که از وی در زندان بزرگ تهران در حدود ۳۱ فروردین ۱۴۰۵ پخش شده او درباره محرومیت زندانیان از مایحتاج اولیه مانند آب، غذا و خدمات درمانی میگوید.
