Comment: Reza Sharifi, 44 years old and a father of two, was shot and killed on Friday, January 9, at around 8:15 p.m., in front of Valiasr Hospital in Arak. He was directly targeted in the abdomen by live ammunition fired by forces of the Islamic Republic. Following his killing, Reza Sharifi’s family was threatened that if they opposed the government’s narrative about his death, his children would be barred from continuing their education. As with many others killed in Arak, the family was not permitted to bury Reza in his hometown, and his body was forcibly buried in a nearby village, Ghaniyarouq.
