According to information received by IranWire Mehrdad Ebrahimi a 21yearold civil engineering student was shot with live ammunition on January 9 2026 in Shahroud and died a few hours later in hospital.
On the evening of January 9 2026 Mehrdad Ebrahimi had joined the protests together with his brother when live fire began. Before he could take shelter behind a car on 22 Bahman Street in Shahroud he was struck by a live bullet in the side. His brother rushed him to Imam Hossein Hospital in Shahroud but he was neither treated there nor allowed to be transferred to another hospital.
Several hours later the young man died. His family was only able to bury his body at Dizaj Cemetery in Shahroud after signing a written statement declaring that he was a member of the Basij.
بنابر اطلاع «ایران وایر» مهرداد ابراهیمی دانشجوی ۲۱ ساله مهدی عمران ۱۹ دی در شاهرود هدف گلوله جنگی قرار گرفت و ساعتی بعد در بیمارستان جان باخت.
شامگاه ۱۹ دی ۱۴۰۴ مهرداد ابراهیمی به همراه برادرش در اعتراضات حاضر شده بود که شلیک گلوله جنگی آغاز شد. او پیش از آن که بتوانید پشت ماشینی در خیابان ۲۲ بهمن شاهرود پناه بگیرد از ناحیه پهلو مورد اصابت گلوله جنگی قرار گفت. برادرش او را به بیمارستان امام حسین شاهرود رساند اما در آن بیمارستان نه به او رسیدگی شد و نه اجازه انتقال او به بیمارستانی دیگر داده شد.
در نهایت چند ساعت بعد این جوان جان باخت و خانواده پس از اینکه دسته نوشته ای را مبنی بر بسیجی بودن او امضا کردند توانستند پیکرش را در آرامستان دیزج شاهرود دفن کنند.
