Sahba Rashtian, a 23-year-old women's football assistant referee, was killed during the Iranian national uprising against the Islamic Republic. She was shot directly in the side by security forces during protests in the city of Isfahan on Friday, January 9, 2026. Her body was laid to rest on Thursday, January 15.
Rashtian officiated in Isfahan's provincial competitions and talent identification programs for the national youth team. She was also active in athletics and physical fitness.
