On January 8, 2026 (18 Dey), security forces of the Islamic Republic shot 32-year-old Parisa Jahani in the head. Her bloodied body was left on the ground in front of the Elahiyeh police station in Mashhad.
Her family searched for four days before finally locating her body at Behesht-e Rezvan cemetery. Reports indicate that security agencies have since placed the family under intense pressure to falsely label her a "martyr" (a state-sanctioned term used to co-opt victims of state violence).
Parisa was the mother of two children, aged 9 and 15.
