According to information obtained by IranWire MohammadTaha Sepahvand a 16yearold ninthgrade student was killed by an AK47 Kalashnikov bullet fired by Islamic Republic suppression forces on the evening of January 9 in Khorramabad.
Sources confirmed to IranWire that the teenage protester died on Naser Khosrow Street in Khorramabad after being struck by a bullet to the chest and pellet shots to the legs.
IranWire was told that agents first shot his legs with pellets and then targeted his chest.
Khorramabad is the heart of Lorestan province. Naser Khosrow is a central wellknown street that witnessed intense clashes during the January 2026 protests.
The sequence of shooting first the legs then the chest is a chilling detail suggesting the victim was first immobilized before a lethal shot was delivered to his upper body.
According to an informed source MohammadTahas friends informed his family that same night that he had been taken to hospital.
However when the family arrived they were barred from entering.
“He remained in the hospital for an hour without receiving proper medical attention. They did not even allow the family to step inside. Ultimately they handed the childs body over to his family from the morgue.”
It is a frequent allegation in Iran that wounded protesters are left to bleed out in hospitals under the supervision of Harasat security agents to ensure they do not survive to be interrogated or become symbols of the movement.
Families are often kept at bay by armed guards to prevent them from witnessing the lack of care.
The informed source who spoke with IranWire about the teenager said he had a brave spirit and often spoke of wanting to become known. “His motto was ‘Die with a name but do not live in shame.”
This phrase is a wellknown Persian poetic sentiment often associated with the epic heroes of the Shahnameh.
For a 16yearold in the 2020s to adopt it as a personal motto underscores the deep sense of historical duty felt by many Iranian Generation Z protesters during these uprisings.
According to the source security forces pressured the family to identify MohammadTaha as a “Basiji” or a state “martyr” but the family resisted.
“They told them ‘Declare him a martyr so you can hold the ceremony properly and without trouble but his family refused.
In the end they forced the family to sign a written commitment not to make ‘noise at the graveside.”
