During the popular protests in the city of Malekshahi, Ilam Province, Latif Karimi, a Kurdish citizen and a retired brigadier general who was present among the protesters, was targeted by direct fire with live ammunition by repressive government forces and lost his life. While government institutions attempted, through media narrativebuilding, to portray him as a member of government forces allegedly killed by protesters, his son has confirmed on his personal page that his father was directly killed by government forces.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, January 3, 2026 13 Dey 1404 , Latif Karimi, a resident of Malekshahi, was shot dead by direct gunfire from government forces while among the protesters in the city.

According to informed sources and eyewitnesses, this citizen was present among demonstrators during the popular protests in Malekshahi when he was directly targeted by gunfire from forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps IRGC .

Emad Karimi, the son of Latif Karimi, emphasized in a story posted on his personal Instagram page that his father was killed by government forces, writing: ‘My fathers only crime was telling them not to shoot at the people.

This comes as staterun media and outlets affiliated with security institutions immediately circulated images of this citizen, claiming that he was ‘killed in clashes with protesters. However, eyewitness accounts provided to Hengaw strongly refute this claim, indicating that Latif Karimi was among the protesting public and was wounded by direct gunfire from IRGC forces, later dying from the severity of his injuries after being transferred to Khomeini Hospital in Ilam.

بر اساس گزارش رسیده به سازمان حقوق بشری هه نگاو، روز شنبە ١٣ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ ٣ ژانویە ۲۰۲٦ ، لطیف کریمی، شهروند اهل ملکشاهی، در میان معترضان این شهر هدف تیراندازی مستقیم نیروهای حکومتی قرار گرفته و کشتە شد.

به گفته منابع مطلع و شاهدان عینی، این شهروند در حالی که در میان معترضان بودە و در جریان تظاهرات مردمی شهر ملکشاهی حضور داشته، هدف شلیک مستقیم نیروهای سپاه پاسداران ایران قرار گرفته است.

عماد کریمی، پسر لطیف کریمی، در ستوری صفحه شخصی اینستاگرام خود تاکید کردە است، پدرش توسط نیروهای حکومتی کشته و نوشته است ''جرم پدرم صرفاً این بود که گفته به مردم شلیک نکنید.''

این در حالیست کە بلافاصلە رسانه های حکومتی و وابسته به نهادهای امنیتی با انتشار تصاویری از این شهروند، مدعی شده اند که وی «در اثر درگیری با معترضان» کشته شده است. درحالی کە اظهارات شاهدان در گفتگو با هەنگاو، این ادعا را به طور جدی رد می کند و نشان می دهد که لطیف کریمی در میان مردم معترض حضور داشته و با شلیک مستقیم نیروهای سپاه مجروح و پس از انتقال به بیمارستان خمینی ایلام به دلیل شدت جراحات جانباخته است. لینک خبر https://hengaw.net/fa/news/2026/01/article31
