Citing the International Federation of Journalists, on Monday, December 4, 2023, Soltanali Abedi, a journalist and media activist residing in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was arrested after being summoned to Branch 3 of the Criminal Enforcement Court of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Zahedan. He was transferred to the city's prison to serve his one-year prison sentence.
According to this report, Soltanali Abedi's arrest followed his summons to Branch 3 of the Criminal Enforcement Court of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Zahedan.
It is worth mentioning that Soltanali Abedi, after being tried in Branch 2 of the Criminal Court in Zahedan, was sentenced to one year in prison for charges of spreading falsehoods and defamation against officials. This sentence was upheld after being communicated and following his appeal to Branch 7 of the Court of Appeals of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Additionally, the mentioned case was opened against Soltanali Abedi following a complaint by the representative of the General Inspection Organization of the country in Chabahar County, related to widespread corruption in the Zahedan Municipality.
به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران به نقل از فدراسیون بین المللی روزنامه نگاران، روز دوشنبه ۱۳ آذر ماه ۱۴۰۲، سلطانعلی عابدی، روزنامه نگار و فعال رسانه ای، ساکن زاهدان مرکز استان سیستان و بلوچستان، پس از احضار به شعبه ۳ اجرای احکام کیفری دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب زاهدان، بازداشت و برای سرپی کردن دوران حبس تعزیری ۱ ساله خود به زندان آن شهر، منتقل شد.
براساس این گزارش، بازداشت سلطانعلی عابدی، در پی احضار وی به شعبه ۳ اجرای احکام دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب زاهدان، صورت گرفته است.
لازم به اشاره است، سلطانعلی عابدی، پس از محاکمه در شعبه دادگاه کیفری۲ زاهدان، از بابت اتهامات نشر اکاذیب و افترا به مسئولان به تحمل ۱ سال حس تعزیری محکوم شده بود و این حکم پس از ابلاغ و در پی اعتراض وی به شعبه ۷ دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان سیستان و بلوچستان، ارجاع و عینا تائید شد.
همچنین، پرونده مذکور، در پی شکایت نماینده سازمان بازرسی کل کشور در شهرستان چابهار و فساد گسترده در شهرداری زاهدان، بر علیع سلطانعلی عابدی گشوده شده بود.
