In recent days, dozens of citizens have been arrested by security forces in Khuzestan Province. Reports indicate that these arrests have occurred in various cities, including Ahvaz, Ramshir, and Shadegan.

On the morning of 8 January 2025, security forces arrested several citizens in different areas of Ahvaz and transferred them to an undisclosed location. On the same day, several individuals in Ramshir were detained by intelligence officers and taken to a detention centre. On the evening of 6 January 2025, several Sunni citizens were arrested in Ahvaz. Prior to that, on 5 January 2025, another citizen was detained by security forces in the Sheyban area of Ahvaz.

As this wave of arrests continues, more individuals have been detained in recent days. These detentions have been accompanied by the confiscation of the detainees' personal belongings. Local reports highlight the concerns of the families regarding the condition and whereabouts of these individuals.

Earlier, reports had emerged of several arrests in Ahvaz and Shadegan. The reasons for the arrests and the locations where many of these citizens are being held remain unknown.
