Reports indicate that Afshin Miyar Kiani, a taekwondo champion and coach, was killed by two gunshots to the back while assisting injured protesters. According to witnesses, on the evening of 8 January, Miyar Kiani was shot twice in the back during the protests when forces noticed his efforts to rescue others, resulting in his death at the scene. Miyar Kiani was a well-known taekwondo athlete and also worked as a coach.
