Arash Keykhosravi

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Arash Keykhosravi, a lawyer and political prisoner detained in Evin Prison, was released after serving his discretionary imprisonment term. This lawyer had been sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment. Arash Keykhosravi had previously faced discretionary imprisonment for a case known as health claimants and was released after serving part of his sentence.

It should be noted that Arash Keykhosravi, after signing a statement entitled "The Absolute Majority of the Iranian People No Longer Want the Islamic Republic", faced a judicial case and was sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by Mohammadreza Amouzad Mahdrijaji, the judge of Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, for the charge of propaganda activities against the regime. He was arrested on September 25, 2023, after being summoned to the first branch of the execution of verdicts of the 33rd district of Tehran, to serve his prison term.

This human rights activist was also arrested on November 19, 2022, to serve his discretionary imprisonment at his private residence in Karaj, Alborz province, and was then transferred to Evin Prison. On January 10, 2023, Branch 9 of the Supreme Court accepted the request for a retrial of his judicial case, issued a bail for his release, and finally, Arash Keykhosravi was released on March 6, 2023, after serving part of his total discretionary imprisonment and the issuance of a suspended imprisonment sentence in the Tehran provincial appeal court.

Keykhosravi, in midAugust 2022, was sentenced by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Appeal Court to two years of discretionary imprisonment, one year of disbarment, and also one year of prohibition from activity on social networks, for a case known as health claimants.

The second court session took place on April 16, 2022, by Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Mazloum, and charges of assembly and conspiracy to disrupt the country's security and propaganda activities against the regime were explained to Arash Keykhosravi and other defendants in this case.

The first court session examining this case was held on January 18, 2022, with the trial of Arash Keykhosravi and one of the five defendants of the said case, in Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

Arash Keykhosravi, on December 14, 2021, along with several other lawyers and civil activists, was arrested in a meeting held to file a complaint against officials who had caused significant life and financial costs to the Iranian citizens during the Corona crisis, by security agents and was transferred to a solitary cell in the security ward of Evin Prison and was released on bail on December 25, 2021.
