Mohammadhasan Ansarikalam

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Mohammad Hassan Ansari Kalam, a resident of Tehran and a follower of the Yamani movement, received a summons to the First Branch of the Enforcement of Judgments of the Prosecutor's Office in District 33 of Tehran. He reported there and was arrested to serve his 3-year imprisonment sentence. He was transferred to Ward 4 (Quarantine Section) of Evin Prison.

According to a person close to the family of this religious prisoner in an interview with the Human Rights reporter in Iran: "Mr. Ansari Kalam had recently received a notice from the First Branch of the Enforcement of Judgments of the Prosecutor's Office in District 33 of Tehran to serve his imprisonment. Late last week, he was transferred to Evin Prison to serve his 3-year sentence."

This informed individual added: "This sentence was issued and executed against Mohammad Ansari while even the Judiciary's (pardon and forgiveness) directive did not apply to his case, and he was sentenced to 3 years in prison solely for his religious dissent."

It is noteworthy that Mohammad Hassan Ansari Kalam was arrested on November 1, 2022, by agents of the Sarallah Base affiliated with the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He was transferred to a safe house for a few days, where he endured torture, beating, and intimidation. Subsequently, he was moved to Ward 1A of the IRGC located in the Sarallah Base, where he underwent intense interrogations and (ideological classes for brainwashing) and (inquisition) for 10 days. After some time, he was transferred to shared rooms in that security ward and eventually to Greater Tehran Prison, from where he was released on bail.

With the commencement of the trial proceedings, Mohammad Hassan Ansari Kalam was charged with (educational, promotional, and deviant activities detrimental to the sacred Sharia of Islam with the intent to disrupt national security) and was tried by Iman Afshari, the judge of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran. During the trial, the judge disregarded the text of the charge, which referred to (education and promotion), and only referenced Mohammad Ansari's membership in a Telegram group. Based on this, he was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. This sentence was upheld after an appeal was filed and the case was referred to Branch 36 of the Tehran Province Court of Appeals, presided over by Abbas Ali Hozan and the court advisor, Khosrow Khalil Mahdareji.
