Sohrab Avizkan was arrested by security agents in Mahabad in November 2022. He was transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Office in Urmia, the capital of West Azerbaijan Province, where he underwent interrogation and was charged. He was then transferred to Mahabad prison and was released on bail some time later.
With the commencement of judicial proceedings, Sohrab Avizkan was tried in May 2023 by a judge of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad. He was convicted of charges of assembly and collusion with the intent to disrupt national security and disturbing public order, and was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment and 3 years of exile to Zanjan Province.
This citizen of Mahabad, after the completion of judicial proceedings and the delivery of the court's final verdict, was arrested on December 9, 2023, to serve his prison sentence and was transferred to Mahabad prison.
سهراب آویزکن، در آبان ماه ۱۴۰۱، توسط ماموران امنیتی در شهرستان مهاباد، بازداشت و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه اداره اطلاعات ارومیه مرکز استان آذربایجان غربی و طی مراحل بازجویی و تفهیم اتهام، سپس به زندان شهرستان مهاباد منتقل و چندی بعد با تودیع قرار وثیقه آزاد شده بود.
با آغاز مراحل دادرسی، سهراب آویزکن، در اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۲، توسط قاضی شعبه دادگاه انقلاب مهاباد، محاکمه و از بابت اتهامات اجتماع و تبانی به قصد برهم زدن امنیت کشور و اخلال در نظم عمومی به تحمل ۳ سال حبس تعزیری و ۳ سال هم تبعید به استان زنجان محکوم شده بود.
این شهروند اهل مهاباد، پس از اتمام مراحل دادرسی و ابلاغ حکم قطعی دادگاه، در تاریخ ۱۸ آذر ماه ۱۴۰۲، برای سپری کردن دوران حبس تعزیری، خود بازداشت و به زندان شهرستان مهاباد، منتقل شد.
