On 12 May 2026, forces from the Ministry of Intelligence raided a residence in Tehran, arresting an individual and transferring them to an undisclosed location. It has been reported that the officers confiscated personal belongings, including mobile phones, belonging to the individual and their spouse.
In recent years, the individual, identified as Mehdi Shafakhah, has been actively volunteering in underprivileged and marginalised areas. Through teaching sports and social skills to working children and vulnerable adolescents, efforts were made to reduce social issues such as addiction and delinquency. has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison by the judiciary.
It is noteworthy that Mehdi Shafakhah is the brother of Reza Shafakhah, a lawyer and an advocate for children's and political prisoners' rights.
در تاریخ ۲۲ اردیبهشت ۱۴۰۵ ، نیروهای وزارت اطلاعات به منزل وی در تهران یورش بردند و او را بازداشت و به مکان نامعلومی منتقل کردند. گزارش شده است که مأموران لوازم شخصی او و همسرش، از جمله تلفن همراه، را ضبط کرده اند.
مهدی شفاخواه طی سال های اخیر به صورت داوطلبانه در مناطق محروم و حاشیه نشین فعالیت داشته و از طریق آموزش ورزش و مهارت های اجتماعی به کودکان کار و نوجوانان آسیب پذیر، در راستای کاهش آسیب های اجتماعی از جمله اعتیاد و بزهکاری تلاش می کرد. اخیرا وی به سیله دادگاه به دوسال و سه ماه حبس محکوم شده است
قابل ذکر است که مهدی شفاخواه، برادر رضا شفاخواه، وکیل دادگستری و فعال حقوق کودکان و زندانیان سیاسی است.
