Zeinab Sahar Fard, born in May 1988 in Varamin and a champion of women's taekwondo in Iran, as well as a fitness and Pilates coach in Qarchak, was fatally shot near Qarchak's Kalantari Square on 8 January 2026. Reports indicate that she had requested her relatives, friends, and students not to call her by her official name, preferring to be known as "Sahar."
Sahar Fard began her athletic journey in childhood with gymnastics before transitioning to taekwondo. She achieved the championship title in Tehran Province and was the national runner-up, which led to her being invited to the national women's taekwondo team camp. However, due to the radical and religious atmosphere of the taekwondo federation, she shifted her focus to Pilates and women's fitness. She completed women's fitness courses at her own expense and began coaching women.
It has been reported that Sahar Fard was actively involved in the protests of January 2026, with her social media activities in the final days being described as hopeful and promising freedom. She participated in most demonstrations and ultimately lost her life during the protests on 8 January 2026.
Following this incident, a blood-stained white sneaker was left as a memento for her family.
زینب سحر فرد، متولد اردیبهشت ۱۳۶۷ در ورامین و قهرمان تکواندو زنان ایران، مربی بدنسازی و پیلاتس در قرچک، در تاریخ ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ در نزدیکی میدان کلانتری قرچک هدف شلیک گلوله قرار گرفت و جان باخت. گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که او از اقوام، دوستان و شاگردانش خواسته بود او را با نام شناسنامه اش صدا نزنند و همیشه خود را "سحر" معرفی می کرد.
سحر فرد ورزش را در کودکی با ژیمناستیک آغاز کرد و سپس به تکواندو روی آورد. او به مقام قهرمانی استان تهران و نایب قهرمانی کشوری رسید و به اردوی تیم ملی تکواندو زنان دعوت شد. اما به دلیل فضای رادیکال و مذهبی فدراسیون تکواندو، به رشته پیلاتس و بدنسازی زنان روی آورد و دوره های بدنسازی زنان را با هزینه های شخصی گذراند و مربیگری برای زنان را آغاز کرد.
گزارش شده است که سحر فرد حضوری پررنگ در اعتراضات دی ۱۴۰۴ داشت و در روزهای آخر، فعالیت های او در شبکه های اجتماعی امیدبخش و وعده آزادی بود. او در اکثر تظاهرات شرکت می کرد و در نهایت در تاریخ ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات جان خود را از دست داد.
پس از این واقعه، یک لنگه کتانی سفید خونی به عنوان یادگاری برای خانواده او باقی ماند.
