According to the sources of ADAP (Association for the Defense of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran), the father of this Azerbaijani student, Ali Asghar Shirmohammadi, is the ideological leader of the Urmia Army Corps, who refuses to cover the news of his son's death during antigovernment demonstrations due to his government affiliations.
The funeral ceremony of Morteza Shirmohammadi was held on Saturday, November 5, in his native village, the secluded village of Sayin Qala (Shahin Dej).

به گزارش منابع آداپ (انجمن دفاع از زندانیان سیاسی آذربایجانی در ایران) پدر این دانشجوی آذربایجانی علی اصغر شیرمحمدی رئیس عقیدتی سیاسی سپاه ارومیه است که به دلیل وابستگیهای حکومتی از انعکاس خبر مرگ فرزندش در جریان تظاهرات ضد حکومتی امتناع میکند.
مراسم خاکسپاری مرتضی شیرمحمدی روز شنبه 14 آبانماه در روستای زادگاهش روستای خلوت سایین قالا (شاهین دژ) برگزار شد.
