Arian Eshghi, a resident of Vali Asr Town in Tehran, was shot by government forces during the national uprising against the Islamic Republic. The incident occurred on the evening of 8 January 2026, in front of the police station in Vali Asr Town.
Arian reportedly joined the crowd of protesters after learning that his brother, Amir Hossein, had been shot. He sustained injuries from three bullets, which struck his hand and kidney.
The Eshghi family returned home at midnight after visiting the hospital for Amir Hossein and discovered that Arian was missing. The father, believing that Arian had been detained, visited local police stations but received no information about him. They were later informed that the bodies of two teenagers had been taken to a clinic near their residence. When Arian's father showed a photo of his son to the clinic manager, he confirmed that Arian's body had been there and had been transferred to Kahrizak.
Government security forces pressured the Eshghi family to state that Arian had been a member of the Basij in order to receive his body. They also brought an interrogator-reporter to the Eshghi home, where Amir Hossein's parents were filmed to support the government's narrative.
Arian was buried in Behesht Zahra Cemetery in Tehran, in section 329, row 191, alongside his brother, Amir Hossein. Arian was a student and had a close relationship with his brother. The two were among three brothers.
