A Turkish citizen from Malekan County in East Azerbaijan Province, identified as Ehsan Shirkhani, was killed by direct gunfire from Basij forces in Bonab County of the same province.
On Tuesday, Ordibehesht 22, 1405 (May 12, 2026), he lost his life after being shot directly by Basij forces in Bonab County.
Forces stationed at a Basij checkpoint in Bonab opened direct fire on his vehicle under the pretext of "failing to comply with a stop order." As a result of multiple gunshot wounds, Ehsan Shirkhani was killed instantly.
A resident of Malekan in East Azerbaijan Province, identified as Ehsan Shirkhani, was reportedly shot and killed by Basij forces. It was reported that the forces fired directly at his vehicle without following the legal protocols for the use of firearms or issuing a warning shot.
