Vahid Lazar Manouchehri, who was subjected to enforced disappearance during the protests on January 8 and 9, 2026, in Tehran, was killed by gunfire and machete strikes from security forces. His body was buried under security measures in one of the villages of Tonekabon on February 26.

According to a close associate of the deceased, Vahid, who was born on April 23, 1985, was the father of a child and hailed from the village of Lazarben in Tonekabon. He lived alone in Tehran, and his family was unaware of his participation in the protests: "The family does not know exactly when, where, and under what conditions Vahid died."

According to this source, on Wednesday, February 25, the Kahrizak Forensic Medicine contacted his family to come to Tehran to collect their son's body. After visiting Kahrizak, the family received his body along with a death certificate stating the cause of death as "respiratory failure."

However, this death certificate did not exempt the family from giving a commitment: "Before handing over the body, security institutions obtained a written commitment from the family not to provide any narrative about his death other than what was stated in the death certificate."
