Javad Zabet Laqa'i, a young man from Mashhad, was killed during protests on 8 January 2026 on Emamieh Boulevard in the Qasemabad neighbourhood of the city. It has been reported that a bullet struck his heart, resulting in his death. His body was handed over to his family on 10 January 2026 and was buried in Behesht Reza in Mashhad.
It has been stated that Javad worked from a young age and had an interest in football. He ran a bakery with his brother. It has also been reported that he lived in Turkey for a period and decided to stay in Iran after returning due to his affection for the country and his family.
His burial ceremony was held under security conditions, and the presence of officers at the ceremony was reported.
جواد ضابط لقائی، جوانی اهل مشهد، در تاریخ 18 دی 1404 در جریان اعتراضات بلوار امامیه در محله قاسم آباد این شهر کشته شد. گزارش شده است که گلوله ای به قلب او اصابت کرده و جانش را گرفته است. پیکر او در تاریخ 20 دی به خانواده تحویل داده شد و در بهشت رضا در مشهد به خاک سپرده شد.
گفته شده است که جواد از کودکی کار می کرد و به فوتبال علاقه مند بود. او به همراه برادرش یک نانوایی را اداره می کرد. همچنین گزارش شده است که او مدتی در ترکیه زندگی کرده بود و پس از بازگشت به ایران به دلیل علاقه به کشور و خانواده اش تصمیم به ماندن گرفته بود.
مراسم خاکسپاری او در شرایطی امنیتی برگزار شد و حضور مأموران در مراسم گزارش شده است.
