Kiumars Vaezi, a retired teacher and union activist residing in Songhor, who was arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence forces on 5 January 2026, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of this city. It has been reported that he received a four-year sentence for "assembly and collusion against national security" and a one-year sentence for "propaganda against the regime." The verdict was issued by the branch of the Songhor Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sadegh Tari Vardi.
It has been stated that Kiumars Vaezi began a hunger strike in Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah on 7 March 2026.
