آریان خوشگوار در اعتراضات آبان ماه ۱۴۰۱ در سنندج توسط نیروهای جمهوری اسلامی با چاقو مورد ضرب و جرح قرار گرفت و از شدت جراحات وارده به کما رفت. او که تنها ۱۸ سال داشت، ۴ ماه در بیمارستان بستری بود و درنهایت روز ۲۴ اسفند جان باخت.
