Hajar Saeedi

Reports indicate that on 19 November 2023, labour activist Hajar Saeedi, residing in Sanandaj, was arrested to serve a one-year prison sentence and transferred to the Sanandaj Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre. This arrest followed her summons to Branch 4 of the Enforcement of Judgments at the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office.

Hajar Saeedi had previously been sentenced by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to two years of imprisonment on charges of assembly and collusion against national security. After an appeal and referral to the Kurdistan Province Court of Appeal, her sentence was reduced to one year.

On 17 May 2023, Hajar Saeedi, along with several other citizens, visited the family home of Hooman Abdollahi for a memorial, where she was arrested by security forces. She was transferred to a detention centre and, after undergoing interrogation, was moved to the Sanandaj Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre. She was released on bail on 18 June 2023 but was summoned to the security police for questioning on 12 September 2023.

The labour activist was also arrested at her home in Sanandaj on 7 June 2020 and released on bail on 25 June 2020 after completing interrogation procedures. On 12 August 2020, the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court sentenced her to five years of imprisonment with a four-year suspension on charges of membership in opposition parties.
