مهدی شریفی زندانی اهل سنت در سال ۹۶ در مرز غربی کشور دستگیر و به زندان همدان منتقل شد. وی چند ماه پیش به زندان مرکزی شیبان منتقل گردید و در بند ۵ بند زندانیان امنیتی محبوس شد.
برای او تا تاریخ برگزاری دادگاه وثیقه ۱۷میلیارد تومانی صادر شده است که به دلیل عدم توانایی خانواده اش همچنان در زندان باقی ماند.
