It is noteworthy that Houshmand Alipour was tried on September 26, 2020, by a judge in the 2nd Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province. He was acquitted of the charge of acting against national security—rebellion, but on September 20, 2020, he was sentenced to three years and two months of imprisonment.
This political activist was initially tried on December 29, 2019, for charges of acting against national security—rebellion by the 1st Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj and was sentenced to death. However, following an appeal and the referral of his case to the Supreme Court, the sentence was overturned, and his case was sent back for retrial to the 2nd Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj as a parallel branch.
Houshmand Alipour was arrested on August 3, 2018, by security forces in Saqqez, a city in Kurdistan Province. He was transferred to the central detention center of the Kurdistan Province Intelligence Office in Sanandaj, where he was deprived of access to a lawyer and other civil rights afforded to a defendant. He underwent intense interrogations and torture before being transferred to the central prison of Saqqez. Shortly after, he was returned to the central prison in Sanandaj. For further interrogation, investigation, and legal proceedings on his case, he was transferred from Saqqez prison to the central prison of Sanandaj on December 26, 2018.

به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، امروز شنبه ۷ بهمن ماه ۱۴۰۲، هوشمند علی پور، اهل شهرستان سردشت و زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان مرکزی شهر سنندج، پس از سپری کردن حبس تعزیری ۳ سال و ۲ ماه خود آزاد شد.
براساس این گزارش، آزادی هوشمند علی پور، در حالی که این زندانی سیاسی، در دوران حبس تعزیری ۳ سال و ۲ ماه خود از حق اعطای مرخصی محروم بوده است.
لازم به اشاره است، هوشمند علی پور، در تاریخ ۵ مهر ماه ۱۳۹۹، توسط قاضی شعبه ۲ دادگاه انقلاب شهر سنندج مرکز استان کردستان، محاکمه و ضمن تبرئه از اتهام اقدام علیه امنیت ملی ـ بغی ، در تاریخ۳۰ شهریور ماه ۱۳۹۹، به تحمل ۳ سال و ۲ ماه حبس تعزیری محکوم شد.
این فعال سیاسی، ابتدا در تاریخ ۸ دی ماه ۱۳۹۸، از بابت اتهامات اقدام علیه امنیت ملی ـ بغی توسط شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب شهر سنندج، محاکمه و چندی بعد به اعدام محکوم شده بود و این حکم در پی اعلام اعتراض و ارجاع پرونده وی به شعبه دیوان عالی کشور، لغو و پرونده هوشمند علی پور، برای دادرسی مجدد به شعبه ۲ دادگاه انقلاب شهر سنندج ـ بعنوان شعبه هم عرض، ارجاع شده بود.
هوشمند علی پور، در تاریخ ۱۲ مردادماه ۱۳۹۷، توسط نیروهای امنیتی در شهرستان سقز از توابع استان کردستان، بازداشت و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه مرکزی اداره کل اطلاعات استان کردستان در شهر سنندج مرکز آن استان در حالی که از حق دسترسی به وکیل و سایر حقوق شهروندی یک متهم محروم بود تحت شدیدترین نوع بازجویی ها و شکنجه قرار گرفت و به زندان مرکزی شهر سقز منتقل شد اما چندی بعد مجددا به زندان مرکزی شهر سنندج بازگردانده شده بود. برای تکمیل مراحل بازجوئی و بازپرسی و دادرسی بر پرونده آنها در تاریخ ۵ دی ماه ۱۳۹۷, از زندان سقز به زندان مرکزی سنندج منتقل شدند.
