Boulghasem Rashvand Sardari, born in 1952 in the Gholhak neighbourhood of Tehran, was a surgeon at Loghman-od-Dowleh Hospital in Tehran. On 21 August 1979, he was executed by firing squad in Paveh, Kermanshah Province, following an order from Sadegh Khalkhali.
Two days after his arrival in Paveh, he was arrested at the city's hospital and executed without a fair trial, along with several others, behind the walls of the same hospital or a nearby school. The official charges included "waging war against God," "corruption on earth," and "armed rebellion." However, reports suggest that the primary reason was his treatment of the wounded, including Kurds or opponents. Claims by Khalkhali, such as mutilating Revolutionary Guards, were dismissed by organisations like the Fedayeen Khalq Guerrillas, who stated that he had no political affiliations.
Following this incident, the staff at Loghman-od-Dowleh Hospital went on strike, demanding transparency. This execution is considered one of the early instances of "doctor killings" after the revolution.
