Amir Abbas Baghestani

On 9 January 2026, Amir Abbas Bagestani, a child from Shahreza in Isfahan Province, was injured by direct gunfire from government forces during public protests on Shora Street in the city. He was transferred to the hospital, where he passed away.

Reports indicated that a live bullet struck his thigh, and he was taken to Amir al-Momenin Hospital in Shahreza. A surgical operation was performed there, but doctors stated that a major artery had been severed, making further treatment impossible. Subsequently, he was transferred to Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan.

According to reports, Amir Abbas Bagestani remained unconscious for about a week, and on 15 January, his family was informed of his passing.

His body was retrieved from the hospital with the help of acquaintances, but permission to transfer it to the Bagh Rezvan morgue was denied. The burial ceremony took place in front of the Shahreza mortuary with limited attendance, and the seventh-day ceremony was held at a mosque with the presence of family and a small number of acquaintances.

It was reported that authorities' request to declare Amir Abbas a martyr was declined by the family. Additionally, the family was not permitted to print announcements for the burial ceremony, and there was sensitivity regarding the publication of his photograph. The funeral was conducted with limited attendance, and the atmosphere was influenced by the presence of plainclothes individuals and a security environment. An agreement was made to ensure the ceremony was not crowded, and gatherings were restricted to a limited number of people.
