Kiumars was arrested by agents of the Komiteh in the summer of 1981. During a search of his home, a number of books and other materials belonging to the organization were seized, and he was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison. He endured grueling torture with remarkable resilience; interrogators not only failed to extract any information from him but also knew him only by his alias, "Mansouri," until the very end. He spent nearly two years of his sentence in solitary confinement at Gohardasht Prison. After serving over seven years across Gohardasht and Evin prisons-enduring repeated rounds of interrogation and torture-he was sent to the firing squad at Evin Prison during the mass execution of political prisoners in 1988.
