اکبر میرزایی،که در جریان اعتراضات ۱۸ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴در محله نارمک تهران با شلیک مستقیم نیروهای حکومتی از ناحیه سر به شدت مجروح شده بود، پس از ۱۲۳ روز بستری در بخش مراقبت های ویژه بیمارستان «امام حسین» جان باخت. گزارش شده است که هنگام تحویل پیکر به خانواده، به آنان اعلام شده که عامل تیراندازی «تروریست ها» بوده اند و پیشنهاد شده پیکر او در قطعه موسوم به «شهدای» بهشت زهرا دفن شود. خانواده با این پیشنهاد مخالفت کرده اند.
