Aydin was fleeing from gunfire when he was shot from behind, and the bullet hit his thigh. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that they started running without looking back, so they do not know if the shooting initially was into the air or not.
When the bullet hit Aydin, two people were beside him and stated that Aydin was alive, and they tried to get him to the hospital.
With the help of people, Aydin reached "Shahid Mohammad Montazeri Hospital" with a delay of an hour and a half. Those who helped him mentioned that transporting the injured in those conditions was difficult. Aydin was alive, so they hid for a while in the house of a citizen who had left their door open until it was possible to move on the streets, which were closed. After an hour and a half of waiting, with the help of a citizen and their car, Aydin was transferred to the hospital. During all those hours, Aydin remained alive.
At the end of the night on January 9, around 1 a.m., a nurse or a member of the medical staff offered condolences to a friend who was inquiring about Aydin's condition. This friend immediately informed the Samaei family.
Aydin was a poet and an electrical engineering student who participated in student protests in his first semester during the 2022 Women, Life, Freedom protests, which led to a two-semester suspension. He loved his field of study and, despite studying hard and working to get accepted, he withdrew from the university due to the suspension and pursued work instead.
He was a calm and introverted individual, with a great love for animals, especially cats, dogs, and birds. During his teenage years, he had a rabbit, and after its death, he could not bring himself to adopt another animal.
He was very kind and was the type of person one could be sure would always be there to help if someone needed it.
Aydin had blood type O and regularly donated blood. When asked why he did it, he would jokingly say, "Out of all these people, God chose me to have blood type O; surely He knew I was a hero."

آیدین با کمک مردم با یک ساعت و نیم تاخیر به «بیمارستان شهید محمد منتظری» رسید. به گفته افرادی که به او کمک کردند حمل مصدوم در آن شرایط دشوار بوده است آیدین زنده بوده است به همین دلیل مدتی در خانه یک شهروندی که درب خانه اش را باز گذاشته بود پنهان شدند تا تردد در خیابان ممکن شود؛ خیابان ها بسته بود. بعد از یک ساعت و نیم انتظار با کمک یک شهروند و با خودروی او آیدین به بیمارستان منتقل می شود. در تمام آن ساعات آیدین زنده بوده است.
در پایان شب ۱۹دی حوالی ساعت یک بامداد یکی از پرستاران یا اعضای کادر درمان به دوستی که پیگیر وضعیت آیدین بوده تسلیت می گوید. این دوست بلافاصله خانواده سماعی را در جریان قرار می دهد.
آیدین شاعر بود. دانشجوی مهندسی برق بود که در سال ۱۴۰۱ در جریان اعتراضات زن زندگی آزادی در ترم اول در اعتراضات دانشجویی شرکت کرد و به همین دلیل دو ترم تعلیق شد. عاشق رشته اش بود و با اینکه خیلی درس خوانده بود و تلاش کرده بود که این رشته را قبول شود ولی به دلیل این تعلیقی از دانشگاه انصراف داد و رفت دنبال کار.
از نظر روحیه فردی آرام و درون گرا بود. علاقه زیادی به حیوانات داشت؛ به ویژه گربه ها سگ ها و پرنده ها. در نوجوانی خرگوشی داشت که پس از مرگ آن دیگر نتوانست حیوانی را به سرپرستی بگیرد.
او بسیار مهربان بود؛ از آن آدم هایی که می شد مطمئن بود اگر کسی به کمک نیاز داشته باشد همیشه در کنارش خواهد بود.
آیدین گروه خونی O داشت و همیشه به صورت دوره ای برای اهدای خون می رفت. وقتی از او می پرسیدند چرا این کار را انجام می دهد با شوخی می گفت: «بین این همه آدم خدا من را انتخاب کرده که خونم O باشد حتماً می دانسته من یک قهمانم.»
