Following the opposition of Bushehr province judicial and law enforcement authorities to the third request of the South Pars Gas Company workers' union to hold a union rally on 20 February 2023 in front of the complex's headquarters and raise the workers' job problems, five labour activists were arrested. Security agents also arrived at the gathering place and violently dispersed the limited group of workers who wanted to raise trade union problems.
Labour activists told Etimadonline that Alireza Mirghafari, the head of South Pars Gas Company's Workers Union, and Hojjat Rezaei, the representative of South Pars Gas Company Refinery 6 workers, were arrested on Sunday night before the union gathering, and Zabihullah Mirzaei, the inspector of South Pars Gas Company Workers Union Union, was also arrested. He was arrested after being summoned to the security police Department. Behdad Gholami, a member of the Refinery 6 Trade Union and one of the workers of the Refinery 5 Trade Union, were also arrested at the rally venue.
