On Thursday, 18 Dey 1404 (January 8, 2026), a Turkish taekwondo athlete holding a 2nd dan black belt, from Mianeh in East Azerbaijan Province and a resident of Karaj, he was killed after being directly shot by government security forces in the liver during popular protests at the Mosbah intersection in Karaj.
This victim had lost both his parents and had only one younger sister.
He had been forced to work since childhood. Abolfazl had joined his friends at a protest gathering in the Mesbah neighborhood of Karaj where he was targeted by live ammunition and killed.
The body of Abolfazl Mehri was laid to rest at Beheshte Sakineh Cemetery in Karaj.
