سارا معصومی در تهران در تاریخ 20 مرداد 1405 آزاد شد. وضعیت حقوقی او در سال های گذشته در حال تغییر بود. در تاریخ 6 اسفند 1402، دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران حکم حبس و ممنوعیت کار او را به مدت دو سال به حالت تعلیق درآورد. این تصمیم پس از حکمی در تاریخ 30 آذر 1402 توسط شعبه 26 دادگاه انقلاب تهران بود که او را به شش ماه حبس و دو سال ممنوعیت فعالیت های روزنامه نگاری محکوم کرده بود. روند قانونی از تاریخ 7 آبان 1402 آغاز شد، زمانی که دادستان انقلاب و عمومی تهران اعلام جرم علیه او کرد.

Sara Masoumi was released in Tehran on 10 August 2026. Her legal status had been changing over the past years. On 25 February 2024, the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal suspended her prison sentence and work ban for two years. This decision followed a ruling on 21 December 2023 by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, which had sentenced her to six months in prison and a two-year ban on journalistic activities. The legal proceedings began on 29 October 2023, when the Tehran Revolutionary and Public Prosecutor filed charges against her.
