Matin Abbasi was killed on the evening of January 9, 2026, around 8 PM in Sabashahr, Tajik Boulevard, after being shot twice in the back with live bullets.
A source close to Matin's family mentioned that the night before, on January 8, 2026, he was injured under the eye by pellets during protests. Despite his injury, he insisted on participating in the protests on the 9th as well. This time, he was hit by live bullets and "fell to the ground in front of his mother's eyes."
After the shooting, he was transferred to two hospitals in Shahriar, Imam Sajjad and Imam Khomeini, but according to the family, he was not admitted due to "lack of space."
They had no choice but to take him back home, where Matin remained bleeding until the next morning. The following morning, with the help of an acquaintance, he was taken to Sabzdasht Hospital.
There, he underwent surgery, and the family was informed that the bullet had been removed. However, three days later, they received a call at midnight notifying them that he had passed away.
Matin's body was transferred to Kahrizak and handed over to the family on January 14. His burial ceremony took place on January 15.
The ceremony was held in Shahriar with a large presence of people and security forces.
"The governor also attended the ceremony, attempting to portray Matin as a Basij member, which the family opposed. Additionally, all banners containing Matin's image were removed from the city."
The source described Matin as "a simple and innocent young man, who worked as a curtain maker and was a tradesman. He had a great interest in heavy motorcycles, and owning one was among his dreams."

متین عباسی شامگاه ۱۹ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴حدود ساعت هشت شب در صباشهر بلوار تاجیک با اصابت دو گلوله جنگی از پشت به کمر کشته شد.
به گفته یک منبع نزدیک به خانواده متین شب قبل ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ نیز در جریان اعتراضات با برخورد ساچمه به زیر چشمش مجروح شده بود. اما با وجود اصرار اطرافیان با وجود جراحت در ۱۹ نیز به اعتراضات رفت. اما اینبار به او گلوله جنگی برخورد کرد و «مقابل چشمان مادرش بر زمین افتاد.»
پس از تیراندازی او را به دو بیمارستان در شهریار امام سجاد و امام خمینی منتقل کردند اما به گفته خانواده به دلیل «نبود جا» پذیرش نشد.
ناچار او را به خانه بازگرداندند و متین تا صبح در حالی که خون ریزی داشت در خانه ماند. صبح روز بعد با کمک یکی از آشنایان به بیمارستان سبزدشت منتقل شد.
در آنجا تحت عمل جراحی قرار گرفت و به خانواده گفته شد گلوله خارج شده است. با این حال سه روز بعد نیمه شب با خانواده تماس گرفته شد و خبر دادند که جان باخته است.
پیکر متین به کهریزک منتقل شد و در تاریخ ۲۴ دی ماه به خانواده تحویل داده شد. مراسم خاک سپاری او روز ۲۵ دی برگزار شد.
به گفته این منبع مراسم در شهریار با حضور پرشمار مردم و نیروهای امنیتی برگزار شد.
«فرماندار نیز برای القای بسیجی بودن متین به مراسم مراجعه کرده که با مخالفت خانواده روبه رو شده است. همچنین تمامی بنرهای حاوی تصویر متین از سطح شهر جمع آوری شد.»
این منبع درباره متین می گوید: «او جوانی ساده و مظلوم بود شغلش پرده دوزی بود و به عنوان کاسب کار می کرد. او علاقه زیادی به موتور سنگین داشت و داشتن یک موتور سنگین از آرزوهایش بود.»
