At around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, 18 Dey 1404 (January 8, 2026), a Turkish child and a follower of the Yarsan faith, originally from Takab and a resident of Shahr-e Qods, was killed after being shot from behind with live ammunition by government security forces during popular protests in Shahr-e Qods.
Security forces demanded 800 million tomans from the families of both Ilya and Sadegh Ghodsi in exchange for handing over each body under the pretext of “bullet fees.” Due to the families inability to pay the specified amount the authorities made the delivery of the bodies conditional on obtaining written commitments stating that their children would be announced as Basij forces killed by “terrorists.”
