Lennart Montrelus, a German citizen with French nationality, has been released after being acquitted of "espionage" charges by the Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court. He had been arrested during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
On 6 October, the head of the Hormozgan Province Judiciary announced that the Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court issued an acquittal for this German-French citizen. The verdict was issued due to doubts about the alleged offence and in consideration of legal principles.
It has also been reported that Lennart Montrelus will soon return to France. Meanwhile, the President of France has acknowledged his release and expressed gratitude for the efforts made to secure his freedom.
During the 12-day conflict, a German-language news outlet reported that this French citizen had travelled to Iran by bicycle and subsequently disappeared. After some time, the Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed his arrest.
لِنارت مونترلوس، شهروند آلمانی با ملیت فرانسوی، پس از تبرئه از اتهام «جاسوسی» توسط دادگاه انقلاب بندرعباس، آزاد شد. او در جریان جنگ ۱۲ روزه ایران و اسرائیل بازداشت شده بود.
رئیس کل دادگستری استان هرمزگان در ۱۴ مهرماه اعلام کرد که دادگاه انقلاب بندرعباس برای این شهروند آلمانی-فرانسوی حکم برائت صادر کرده است. این حکم به دلیل تردید در بزه انتسابی و با لحاظ اصول حقوقی صادر شده است.
همچنین گزارش شده است که لِنارت مونترلوس به زودی به فرانسه بازخواهد گشت. در همین حال، رئیس جمهور فرانسه به آزادی او اشاره کرده و از تلاش های انجام شده برای آزادی او قدردانی کرده است.
در جریان جنگ ۱۲ روزه، یک پایگاه خبری آلمانی زبان اعلام کرده بود که این شهروند فرانسوی با دوچرخه به ایران سفر کرده و ناپدید شده بود. پس از مدتی، وزیر امور خارجه ایران بازداشت او را تایید کرد.
