Mehdi Jadidi lost his life on 8 January 2026 in the Naziabad neighbourhood of Tehran due to two direct gunshots to the head. It has been reported that the severity of the injury was such that he passed away within the initial hours due to severe bleeding.
Mehdi Jadidi's family was informed of the incident that night and immediately went to Kashani Hospital. Reports indicate that the family managed to see Mehdi at the hospital, but he had already passed away by that time.
During the identification process, Mehdi Jadidi's image was shown to the family via a monitor, and they were asked to proceed with the identification. His body was handed over to the family on 11 January.
Reports suggest that no request for payment was made to the family during the handover of the body. However, government officials requested that Mehdi Jadidi be introduced as a martyr, a request the family opposed.
It has also been reported that he had recently completed his military service and was a graduate in accounting.

خانواده مهدی جدیدی همان شب از وقوع حادثه مطلع شده و بلافاصله به بیمارستان کاشانی مراجعه کرده اند. گزارش شده است که خانواده موفق شده اند مهدی را در بیمارستان ببینند، اما او در آن زمان جان خود را از دست داده بود.
در روند شناسایی پیکر، تصویر مهدی جدیدی از طریق مانیتور به خانواده نشان داده شده و از آن ها خواسته شده است برای شناسایی پیکر اقدام کنند. پیکر مهدی جدیدی در تاریخ 21 دی ماه به خانواده تحویل داده شده است.
گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که در جریان تحویل پیکر از خانواده درخواست پرداخت پول نشده، اما مقام های حکومتی از آن ها خواسته اند که مهدی جدیدی به عنوان شهید معرفی شود؛ درخواستی که خانواده با آن مخالفت کرده اند.
همچنین گزارش شده است که او به تازگی خدمت سربازی خود را به پایان رسانده و دانش آموخته رشته حسابداری بوده است.
