According to a directive from the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, dated February 25, 1991, Baha'i citizens are deprived of any civil rights and face various human rights violations and coercive actions by the Islamic Republic government.
Forcing citizens to adhere to a specific belief is akin to suppressing freedom of expression and thought, violating Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966. These legal provisions emphasize the right of individuals to disseminate ideas, beliefs, theories, and political and ideological views without border restrictions.
