Maryam was the daughter of Mohammad Sadeq Golzadeh Ghafouri. He was a cleric, lawyer, mujtahid, writer, and university professor from Iran. He was a cleric during the first period of the revolution, a representative of Tehran province in the Assembly of Experts on the Constitution, and a representative of Tehran in the first term of the Islamic Consultative Assembly from the Freedom Movement. Ali Golzadeh Ghafouri proposed in the Assembly of Experts that the Supreme Council of the Republic be appointed to manage the country's affairs. When he signed the text of the constitution, he explicitly wrote that he agreed with the Supreme Council of the Republic on the affairs of the country. And he refused to attend the assembly.
His three children and son-in-law were arrested and executed on charges of collaborating with the Mojahedin.
His eldest son, Mohammad Sadeq Golzadeh Ghafouri, who was only 23 years old, was executed for collaborating with the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. Two weeks later, on October 13, his youngest son, Mohammad Kazem Golzadeh Ghafouri, was shot at the age of 19, and seven
years later, his daughter Maryam Golzadeh, a mathematics student at the University of Tehran, and his son-in-law Alireza Haj Samadi, a 33-year-old student at the University of Tehran, were hanged during the massacre of political prisoners in August 1988.
مریم گلزاده غفوری دختر علی گلزاده غفوری، روحانی، حقوقدان، مجتهد، نویسنده و استاد دانشگاه اهل ایران بود. او از روحانیون دوره اول انقلاب، نماینده استان تهران در مجلس خبرگان قانون اساسی و نماینده تهران در دوره اول مجلس شورای اسلامی از نهضت آزادی بود. در مجلس خبرگان، او پیشنهاد شورای عالی جمهوری را برای اداره امور کشور ارائه کرد و در هنگام امضا کردن متن قانون اساسی، عقیده خود را مبنی بر موافقت با شورای عالی جمهوری نوشت و از حضور در مجلس خودداری کرد.
سه فرزند و داماد او به اتهام همکاری با مجاهدین بازداشت و اعدام شدند. محمد صادق گلزاده غفوری، فرزند بزرگش، به جرم همکاری با سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران اعدام شد. دو هفته بعد، در تاریخ ۱۳ مهر، فرزند کوچکش محمدکاظم گلزاده غفوری در ۱۹سالگی تیرباران شد. هفت سال بعد، دخترش مریم گلزاده ، دانشجوی رشته ریاضی دانشگاه تهران، و دامادش علیرضا حاج صمدی، دانشجوی دانشگاه تهران، در جریان کشتار زندانیان سیاسی در مرداد ماه سال ۱۳۶۷ حلق آویز شدند.
مکان دفن او را به خانوادش اطلاع نداده اجازه برگزاری مراسم سوگواری هم ندادند .
