Younes Rigi, a Baloch citizen, participated in protests advocating for the victims of violence in Balochistan. During a demonstration, he was struck by shotgun pellets, resulting in the loss of one eye. Rigi holds a diploma in accounting, indicating that he worked while studying, but numerous hardships and deprivations prevented him from continuing his education.
On 30 September 2022, two weeks after the "Bloody Friday of Zahedan," citizens of Sistan and Baluchestan gathered at the Makki Grand Mosque, as they had on previous Fridays. Younes joined the crowd. While returning home after the prayers, security forces blocked their path. Younes was among the protesters and attempted to change direction when he encountered security personnel behind him. They opened fire on the demonstrators, and Younes was hit. He sustained injuries from the pellets, affecting his face, chest, arms, and legs.
Residents opened their doors to the fleeing protesters, and Younes sought refuge in one of the homes. After the chaos subsided, he was transferred to a hospital. The first hospital lacked the necessary facilities to treat his eye injury, leading to his transfer to another hospital where he underwent two surgeries. Surgeons removed the pellets from his eye, but his body remained filled with shrapnel.
Months later, Younes still has no vision in his right eye. He can only discern light, indicating whether it is day or night. Doctors have informed him that there may be a slight chance of regaining some vision over time, but there are no guarantees.
Medical staff at the hospital declined to remove the remaining pellets from Younes's body, leaving him with dozens of shotgun pellets that he carries daily, along with the constant reminder of his lost vision.
یونس ریگی شهروند بلوچی که به عنوان معترض و دادخواه خون کشته های بلوچستان قدم به خیل معترضان گذاشت اما هدف سلاح ساچمه ای قرار گرفت و یک چشم خود را از دست داد. وی دیپلم حسابداری دارد؛ یعنی هم زمان با تحصیل، کار هم می کرده است اما فشار زندگی و محرومیت های بی شمار، او را از ادامه تحصیل بازداشتند.
دو هفته پس از «جمعه خونین زاهدان» در هشتم مهر ماه ۱۴۰۱ شهروندان استان سیستان و بلوچستان مثل جمعه های پیشین در «مسجد جامع مکی» جمع شده بودند. یونس هم با آنها همراه بود.
در مسیر راهپیمایی بعد از حضور در مسجد، در حال رفتن به منازل خود بودند که نیروهای امنیتی راه را بر آن ها بستند. یونس میان جمعیت بود. می خواست که مسیر خود را تغییر دهد که با نیروهای امنیتی در پشت سر خود مواجه شد. آنها بر روی معترضان آتش گشودند، یونس هم هدف شلیک قرار گرفت. از صورت تا سینه، دست ها و پاهای یونس با گلوله های سربی سلاح ساچمه ای شکافته شدند.
مردم درهای خانه های خود را به روی معترضان گشودند و یونس نیز به یکی از خانه ها پناه برد. پس از فروکش کردن شلوغیها یونس به بیمارستان منتقل شد. نخستین بیمارستان فاقد امکانات رسیدگی به چشم آسیب دیده اش بود. او را به بیمارستان دیگری منتقل کردند و در آن جا مورد دو عمل جراحی قرار گرفت. جراحان چشم ساچمه درون چشم یونس را درآوردند اما بدنش پر از ساچمه باقی ماند.
چشم راست یونس پس از گذشت ماهها، هم چنان دید ندارد. او تنها می تواند نور را تشخیص دهد که چه زمان شب است و چه وقتی روز. پزشکان به او گفته اند که ممکن است به مرور زمان چند درصدی از بینایی چشم او برگردد اما تضمینی بر آن نیست.
پزشکان در بیمارستان از خارج کردن ساچمه های بدن یونس سر باز زدند و او ماه ها است که ده ها گلوله ساچمه ای را شبانه روز با خود دارد و البته چشمی که هر روز در آینه به آن می نگرد تا بلکه تغییری در این از دست دادگی به وجود آید.
