On 1 October 2022, the city of Marivan experienced protests by its residents. Mokhtar Ahmadi was returning home after hours of work when he was shot and fell to the ground upon entering the dead-end alley where his house was located.
It has been reported that security forces visited Mokhtar Ahmadi's home to pressure his family into silence. The street was reportedly dark and the alley deserted. Previously, other individuals had also been killed in Marivan. The forces informed Mokhtar's family that if they had any complaints or knew the perpetrator, they should inform them. They stated that Mokhtar was considered a martyr in their view and that the family would be introduced to the Martyrs Foundation.
According to available information, Mokhtar Ahmadi's family resisted the forces' proposal to recognise their son as a martyr and accept the scenario that he was killed by individuals other than the security forces. The family of the deceased was compelled to bury their loved one quietly at night.
در 9 مهر 1401، شهر مریوان شاهد اعتراضات شهروندان بود. مختار احمدی، پس از ساعت ها کار، در حاشیه خیابان به خانه بازمی گشت. خانه او در کوچه ای بن بست قرار داشت و هنگامی که وارد کوچه شد، تیر خورد و بر زمین افتاد.
گزارش شده است که نیروهای امنیتی به خانه مختار احمدی رفتند تا خانواده او را به سکوت وادار کنند. گفته می شود که خیابان تاریک و کوچه خلوت بوده است. پیش از این نیز افرادی در مریوان کشته شده بودند. نیروها به خانواده مختار اعلام کردند که اگر شکایتی دارند یا قاتل را می شناسند، به آن ها اطلاع دهند و گفتند که مختار از نظر آن ها شهید است و خانواده را به بنیاد شهید معرفی خواهند کرد.
بر اساس اطلاعات موجود، خانواده مختار احمدی در برابر پیشنهاد نیروها برای شهید معرفی کردن فرزندشان و پذیرفتن این سناریو که او به دست افرادی جز نیروهای امنیتی کشته شده است، مقاومت کرده اند. خانواده این جان باخته مجبور شدند پیکر عزیزشان را شبانه و بدون هیچ سر و صدایی به خاک بسپارند.
