Reports indicate that on 9 January 2026, Ziba Dastjerdi, a resident of Nishapur, was killed by direct gunfire from government forces during public protests in the city. This individual was killed in the presence of her 8 years old daughter and was pregnant at the time of her death.
It has been stated that she had previously been sentenced to one and a half years of imprisonment in 2023 and had recently been sentenced to another year in a separate case, awaiting an appeal in the court of review.
