According to received information, Ruhollah Arab, a resident of Sang-e Sar (Mehdishahr), who was previously arrested and sentenced during the protests of 2022, has been detained again since January 2026. He faces charges in two cases, including "propaganda against the regime" and "disruption of public order and security."
In a letter from prison, he stated that after unsuccessful legal and peaceful pursuits, he has chosen a hunger strike as a last resort for protest.
Arab, referring to his one-year prison sentence, has deemed the sentence disproportionate. He mentioned that some individuals convicted in similar cases have benefited from facilities such as suspended sentences, electronic monitoring, and open prison, but these options have not been considered for him.
He has requested a review of his case conditions and the possibility of using one of these legal facilities, emphasizing that his aim is not to receive special privileges but to have equal rights with other convicts.
بر اساس اطلاعات دریافتی، روح الله عرب، ساکن سنگسر (مهدی شهر)، که پیش تر نیز در جریان اعتراضات سال ۱۴۰۱ بازداشت و محکوم شده بود، از دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ برای دومین بار در دو پرونده با اتهاماتی از جمله «تبلیغ علیه نظام» و «اخلال در نظم و امنیت عمومی» بازداشت شده است.
او در نامه ای از زندان اعلام کرده است که پس از بی نتیجه ماندن پیگیری های قانونی و مسالمت آمیز، اعتصاب غذا را به عنوان آخرین راه اعتراض انتخاب کرده است.
عرب با اشاره به محکومیت یک سال حبس خود، این حکم را نامتناسب دانسته و گفته است برخی محکومان در پرونده های مشابه از تسهیلاتی مانند تعلیق مجازات، پابند الکترونیکی و رأی باز برخوردار شده اند، اما این امکانات برای او در نظر گرفته نشده است.
او خواستار بررسی مجدد شرایط پرونده و فراهم شدن امکان استفاده از یکی از این تسهیلات قانونی شده و تأکید کرده است که هدفش دریافت امتیاز ویژه نیست، بلکه برخورداری از حقوق برابر با دیگر محکومان است.
