روز چهارشنبه 3 تیر 1405، امین عسکراوی، شاعر اهل اهواز، به دو سال حبس محکوم شد. او که اهل روستای اوشار از توابع شهرستان شادگان در استان خوزستان است، حدود پنج ماه پیش توسط نیروهای امنیتی بازداشت شده بود. گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که وی در دوران بازداشت تحت بازجویی های فشرده و رفتارهای تحقیرآمیز قرار گرفته است. این فعال فرهنگی پس از مدتی با تودیع وثیقه به طور موقت آزاد شده بود، اما اکنون با حکم دو سال زندان مواجه شده است. نهادهای حقوق بشری بارها نسبت به برخوردهای امنیتی و قضایی با فعالان فرهنگی و مدافعان هویت زبانی و فرهنگی عرب های اهواز هشدار داده اند.
