Amir Ghomi, 34-year-old, was killed by gunfire during protests on Bayat Street in Shahr-e Rey on 9 January 2026. Reports indicate that he was self-employed and was planning to marry after the Nowruz holidays.
After the shooting, Amir was taken to the hospital by the public. It was reported that after the absence of vital signs was confirmed, security forces present at the hospital informed his family that they must acknowledge him as a Basij member to receive his body, a request that the family opposed.
Information suggests that Amir Ghomi's father was a war veteran from the Iran-Iraq conflict and passed away the previous year. Ultimately, the family was able to retrieve his body, and he was buried at the Ibn Babawayh Cemetery in Shahr-e Rey on 11 January 2026.
Due to the family's status as relatives of war veterans and martyrs, they are under pressure from security agencies. It was reported that the body was handed over on the condition of a quiet burial, and the family held a ceremony at the Saduq Mosque in Shahr-e Rey on 14 January 2026.
